Today
Lady Liberty shed a tear
As planes flew passed her welcoming arms
And devastated Americans
With sorrow and fear

From her vantage point
Upon freedom’s harbor she cried
While buildings crumbled
And thousands of people died

Then she watched in amazement
The sight which came next
As masses flooded Manhattan
Both native and guest

“United we stand”
The lady thought with a smile
“And United we are
In times of tribulation and trial”
